HydraFacial? Yes, Please!

My HydraFacial Experience at Face to Face Spa

So, last year, we were outside enjoying a sunny October afternoon, when my 9-year old said “Mom, you look very old today.” Wait, what did you just say?? “You have a lot of wrinkles.”

Of course I had wrinkles! The sun was shining, so I was squinting. And it was a long and exhausting day. (Not). And — ok, stop. Enough denial. That day I swore that 2020 was going to be a year of more self care and me-love.

Two weeks ago I had my first-ever HydraFacial at Face to Face Spa at Davenport Village.

What is a HydraFacial?

A HydraFacial is a medical-grade resurfacing treatment or hydra-dermabrasion procedure that uses patented technology to cleanse, extract, and hydrate the skin.

What skin conditions does HydraFacial address and what are the benefits?

Hydration is the foundation of healthy, radiant skin (drink more water!). Irritation of the skin has been proven to increase signs of aging (hello, wrinkles!). HydraFacial is a hydrating and non-irritating treatment that addresses a multitude of skin conditions, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin tone, sun damage, or hyperpigmentation
  • Congested and oily skin
  • Enlarged pores
  • Brown spots and blackheads
  • Dry or dehydrated skin
  • Loss of skin elasticity or firmness

Who can get a HydraFacial?

A HydraFacial is suitable for virtually any age and skin type. However, those with active rashes, sunburns, or rosacea should abstain from HydraFacials.

My HydraFacial at Face to Face Spa and the results

So, here’s my HydraFacial experience at Face to Face Spa at Davenport Village. My goal was to smooth out some of my – as per my daughter: MANY – wrinkles, reduce redness, and just pamper my skin.

The first step of my HydraFacial was: enjoying a complimentary Mimosa in the beautiful entry hall of Face to Face Spa.

I was then led into the “operating room” which looked like a mixture of a massage studio and a dentist office. Next to a cushy, warm massage table were a couple machines that were about to put to work to help beautify my skin.

The next step after I made myself comfortable on the massage table was the Cleanse + Peel step, where dead skin cells and excess sebum were removed from my skin.

During the Extract + Hydrate step, my “HydraFacialist” Sarah removed debris, such as blackheads, dirt, oil, and impurities, from my pores through suction with a vacuum-like tip. I felt a little “hot and spicy” sensation, but it wasn’t painful at all.

Simultaneously, Sarah explained, antioxidants and peptides were pushed into my pores to moisturize, brighten, plump, and protect my skin. This was the so-called Fuse + Protect step.

After 30 minutes, the procedure was complete. The results? My wrinkles weren’t gone, but less noticeable. My skin felt incredibly smooth and looked radiant and healthy.

I actually got to see what was extracted from my skin (dermatologists say, clients are obsessed with looking at the “outcome”, so here you go).

It’s been two weeks now and my skin still feels as soft as a baby-bottom.
